Twins: Double the fun, double the love!

First off Congratulations to my sister in law and her hubby! Last week they were blessed with twin baby girls which of course means that Im the proud aunt of 2 little nieces. They were born at 37 weeks and weighed in at 5lb9oz and 5lb10oz. These treasures truly are the sweetest little things and seem to find so much comfort in each other. As a part of my gift to them I set them up with a newborn photo session with none other than...MYSELF! :)

This shoot was beyond fun! I had two 11 day old newborn babies to play around with in what I like to call "The Anne Geddes edition". HA! Far from it of course but my creativity juices were flowing big time. My inspiration stemmed from the names that were given to my nieces; Summer & Sana. Instantly I was thinking a garden themed shoot. I wanted to incorporate organic earthy props to portray these darling gifts from God. Everything from grassy foliage to the softness of fur bedding in rustic cane baskets. It was a recreation of the purity that these miracles portray.

It was the most unique shoot I have done to date and I think I could have sat there clicking away the whole day. The babies were such a joy to work with. I had them propped up in all sorts of positions and they didnt fuss one bit. Infact most of the time they were fast asleep and if they were awake it was either because they wanted to socialize and enjoy the experience or be fed. :) Thank you so much Shafi family for letting me borrow your two little angels to help fuel the creativity involved in this shoot!

A little bit of French country

Have you ever felt like you've been transported to another time or place without really going anywhere? Well I have! Last week I had the amazing opportunity to photograph a lovely mother and her two adorable grown kids in their stunning home in Great Falls, Virginia. The minute I walked into this house I seriously felt like I had been whisked away to the French countryside; everything from the smell of freshly baked cookies, to the colorful crockery on their rustic kitchen table, the rich toile and damask fabrics adorning the bright windows and eclectic looking chairs, the beautiful handcrafted armoires and console tables exuded personality. You could tell everything was bought for the sole reason that it belonged in this home. It was a creatively put together home with the comfort and classic charm of French country design.

I had a great time capturing the unique flair of this wonderful mother/kids combo and the backdrop for their shoot couldnt have been more perfect. Thank you Idris family for letting me enjoy your stunning home as well as allowing me to photograph the qualities that make your family so special. Heres a sneak peek from their shoot.
